Just a short note about my trailer and my large, sewn-together blue tarp, I have nicknamed BIG BLUE.
Frankly, I don't know how much combined weight I started out with but whatever is was it was WAY TOO MUCH! I only pedaled about 12 miles (combination of pedaling and E-power) before the battery died. I now suspect it was because the effort I was asking the E-bike to make, exceeded its battery power and consequently my bike (Gertrude) quit due to loss of juice.
I think I learned my lesson and when I restart tomorrow I will do so with less STUFF!!
Joanne will follow me in her pickup, kind of, and will haul heavier items I refuse to leave behind, like books, and more books, and other books, etc. I am also carrying with me a cast iron fry pan. If this sounds a little like the Conostoga wagons heading west, that seems fair. A backpacker would be appalled at my load, but, I am after comfort and ease, not pain and sorrow.
So the bike will be lighter and the trailer will be housed at the cabin, while BIG BLUE will be in Joanne's backseat, with my books. More about the books on another day. Stay tuned!
