Expecting significant rainfall this Memorial Day weekend, I will postpone (AGAIN) the restart of my E-bike trip. Looks like the weather will break on Tuesday (May 28) and I intend to return to the location of my previous breakdown on Norwich Road, several miles north of Norwich Bluff.
Yesterday to ease my restlessness and boredom I took the E-bike (nicknamed Gertrude) for a ride. Racing along at breakneck speed, wind whipping chilly on my exposed skin, I marveled at the absolute quiet of my bike as opposed to several motorcycles I have owned. Being one who has always enjoyed relative quiet over loud noise (never cared for hard rock), I slipped along relatively noiselessly, startling an older gentleman who was walking across the road to his mailbox. There is an old adage about "mum is the word", a reference to "silence", I think it fits.
A true Yooper I met at LaBranche Bar remarked to me, "I bet one of those [E-bikes] would be good for sneaking into my deer blind." Well, I suppose he might be onto something!
