Had to clean out the hot tub the other day, in preparation for guests at my cabin. I think I have mentioned that I rent out my cabin on AirBnb to stretch my meager funds. often writers have authority but limited income.
The hot tub is nothing ore than an old wood fired boiler I bought from a miner in the city of Negaunee, down the road 60 miles or so. It was one hell of a lot of effort to get it out of the miner's basement and up the narrow stairs.
The tub itself is just a 300 gallon cow trough of tough ABS plastic I bought at Tractor Supply in Marquette. With the help of a local contractor, I had an insulated box built around the unit. The system operates without electricity or pumps, or jets of any type as it circulates the water by thermo-siphoning. This is simply a process of, hot water rises and cold water sinks. A plumber helped me connect everything up, as I don't know one end of a monkey wrench from the other. It works in its own fashion, not fast by any means, but great for romantic nights of dark star-filled skies, when the mosquitoes aren't too bad. As Thoreau once stated, "Simplify, simplify."
